ABOUT US

The combination of  clarinet and accordion is usually associated with folk music.

But in the hands of Johanna Gossner, clarinet  and Damian Keller, accordeon a surprising sound experience takes place.

With their love for musical details, their eagerness to experiment and their extraordinary musicality the two musicians manage to captivate and fascinate all their listeners.

Founded in 2016 as a modern multi-faceted classical ensemble, Duo Minerva has taken the Viennese audiences by storm.

In 2017, Duo Minerva won the first price at the 16th Fidelio Chamber Music Competition of Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna and a grant from the Tsuzuki Foundation for the Promotion of Young Artists. Furthermore, the ensemble reached international acclaim at the 16th Concorso Internationale "Premio Citta' Di Padova" (Italy), the 19th OSAKA International Music Competition (Japan) and the 3rd North Music Competition (Sweden).

Duo Minerva has already performed in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and Japan. In 2018 their first program "In Concert" was presented during a tour through Austria and the young ensemble was mentored by Federspiel mastermind Frédéric Alvarado-Dupuyas as part of the new MUK start-up program.

With their unique sound combination they tell musical stories and legends in various styles, starting with their debut CD „Danse Macabre“, which is mainly about dances of all kinds, released in 2019.

They cross the bridge from early, classical and romantic repertoire to contemporary music and folklore, arranged and presented in their very own and special way of playing together.
